I have the same issue. As of yesterday, I tin can't sign in to the desktop app, hasn't been an issue the unabridged 2+ years I've used Teams.

I've tried reinstalling. I've tried the above solution of clearing the Teams appdata binder. Doesn't fix it. Web app works fine, mobile app appears to be fine as well. Just cannot sign in to the desktop app.
